Culture and The Message

Where do we start to draw the lines between all those things that are culture-based and all those things that are truly message-based?

Prem’s four international birthday celebrations for the year was kicked off in September at Ivory’s Rock Conference Center near Brisbane, Australia (Amaroo). Over 4000 guests from all over the world attended this 5-day convention. Here’s Prem’s 1st address on Day 3.

So many people come to me and say, “You know, you talk about peace. But what about all these problems in the world?” All right! Let’s…well, why are these problems in the world in the first place?

We look at somebody who was born poor, and we say, “You are born poor because of your bad karma.” That’s stupid! That’s absolutely stupid! “Something you must have done in your last lifetime.” Has nothing to do with it.

There’s an entire country, the second largest population in the world, is fighting with this. There’s a whole bunch of people who want to move away from it, and there’s a whole bunch of people who are dug in and completely stuck in this rut.

And it has nothing to.... Human beings are human beings. Including the six, approximately, the six percent DNA of a Neanderthal. And there’s other mixtures in between, too—so you’re not even pure breed. And this is just who we are.

So, anyways, what we…what I want to talk about today is, so, “What is happening?” And, where do you start to draw the lines between all those things that are culture-based and all those things that are truly message-based?

So, something that happened—and that was reaching people with this message.

“Well, you’re going on radio.” Who’s listening to you, it’s not in your control. Hopefully, you’re going to say something, and they’re going to find it interesting, and they’re going to leave the station on.

And when I was in India on one of the radio stations—and South Africa, and other ones too, live callers calling in with their problems. “How do you deal with this? How do you deal with this? How do you deal with this?” And I’m like, “Well, what is the reality?” And pointing back again, that they have an opportunity, as a human being, alive on the face of this earth....

And so, when they would listen to that message, they were like, “Wow! This is really good!” And the radio presenters and the producers were listening to it too. And they’re going, “Wow, this is really good!”

And this accumulation of people, that reach that we talk about, are the repeats of the show—because they started, then, just—there was such a demand by people to listen to it again and again and again, that they would put it out again and again and again. And this is how in 2016, we reached 120 million people—that was the in the whole year.
